Greater Comfort During Each Visit

Dental anxiety is real and causes many patients to forgo regular care. As a result, this often leads to dental decay, cavities, gum disease, and other serious complications. Without the proper treatment, teeth can fall out, the bone will break down, and extensive treatment will be required to restore and rebuild the smile. With sedation dentistry, however, patients can enjoy a more comfortable and relaxing experience that reduces anxiety. Nitrous Oxide Sedation Dentistry

Woman receiving nitrous oxide sedation dentistry treatment

Considered the mildest type of sedation dentistry, nitrous oxide is also known as “laughing gas” and is safe to use on both children and adults. Administered through a nasal mask, patients breathe in the solution and begin to feel the calming effects immediately. Once the procedure is complete, the gas is turned off, and the patient begins to feel like their normal self and can resume regular activities immediately following their appointment.

General Anesthesia

Relaxed patient under general anesthesia

If a patient has extreme dental anxiety or a young child is preparing to undergo extensive dental surgery, general anesthesia can be administered. Dr. Gordon Barnes is our board-certified, in-house anesthesiologist with more than 25 years of experience. Rendering patients completely unconscious, he will carefully monitor a patient’s vitals throughout treatment, and he will ensure their safety so they can remain comfortable while receiving the dental care they need.
